Ella Yazbeck is a 1st year Master's Student studying Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering and a BSE in Civil Engineering from UM. As President, Ella is responsible for leading the weekly officer meetings, organizing the Speaker Series and Company Information Sessions as well as planning the Chicago Trip. Last year, Ella served as a Social Chair and was responsible for planning social events for the department. Outside of ASCE, Ella is also a member of the 2019-2020 EERI Seismic Design Competition Board. She also like playing IM sports with ASCE every year!
Nick Riesterer is a senior studying Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering and a minor in Computer Science. As Co-Vice President, Nick plans and manages the annual Civil and Environmental Engineering Career Fair, sponsored by the College of Engineering. He started off his junior year as the Community Outreach Chair, planning the annual CEE Food Drive and other community events within the local community. Outside of ASCE, Nick does research on image analysis methods for grain size distributions under Professor Hryciw. Nick also enjoys running and is a part of the Steel Bridge Team and BlueLAB: Green Urban Design. Nick enjoys running and is currently training to run his first half marathon at the end of October 2019.
Cecile Baeza is a senior studying Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering and minors in Computer Science and Physics. As Co-Vice President, An supports the other VP in career fair coordination. She previously held the position Social Chair, which involved planning social events for the CEE department and the San Francisco trip. She was previously Athletic Chair for ASCE and organized several IM sports teams over the school year. Outside of ASCE, Cecile is a part of Steel Bridge Team and serves as Athletic Director for the Stamps Leadership Scholars. She enjoys playing IM sports with friends and is training for a half marathon with Nick in October.
Alfonso Garcia is a senior studying Civil and Environmental Engineering. As treasurer, he is responsible for raising funds for social events and handling the clubs finances. Alfonso has been treasurer for two years. Outside of ASCE, Alfonso is in BlueLab Sa’Nima and Students Helping Honduras.
Ariel Roy is a 3rd year undergraduate student studying civil engineering. As secretary, Ariel is responsible for documenting organization activities (including meeting notes, event feedback, and attendance), preparing the annual report, and maintaining the membership list. Outside of ASCE, she is a grader and IA for the CEE department, a house-member at the Michigan Branch of the Telluride Association, and an avid runner.
Robert Nawara is a sophomore studying Civil Engineering. As the Marketing Chair he promotes ASCE's activities, mainly weekly Speaker Series, through emails and website. He also enjoys promoting the department and organization's events. Outside ASCE, Robert enjoys spending time in the outdoors hiking, camping, and snowboarding. Within Civil Engineering, Robert is interested the interactions of systems in buildings and infrastructure.
Joshua Riley is a senior studying Environmental Engineering with a concentration in Water Systems Engineering. As Co-Social Chair, Joshua plans social events such as intramural sports, pancake breakfasts and other social events. He will also assist the president in planning the annual Chicago Alumni trip. He started off his junior year as the Southeast Michigan Branch Representative, attending chapter meetings with practicing professionals in the region and helping with their career fairs and events. Outside of ASCE, Nick has conducted research alongside Professor Branko Kerkez. Joshua also lives in a local housing co-operative and is a member of the board of directors.
Mariah Bolda is a junior studying Civil Engineering with a concentration in Construction Management. As Co Social Chair, Mariah is responsible for planning social events for the department, like: Intramural Sports teams, Apple Orchard Outing, Gingerbread structure contest, pancake breakfast, pumpkin carving event, and more. She also assists with the CEEFA banquet and Chicago trip. Outside of ASCE, Mariah works at an After School Program with elementary aged students. Outside of school and other student organizations, Mariah enjoys anything creative such as: sketching, painting, and photography.
Community Outreach Chair
Emily Perrin is a junior studying Environmental Engineering. As Community Outreach Chair, Emily is responsible for the annual CEE Food Drive and other events around the Ann Arbor community. Outside of ASCE, Emily is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and Campus Farm. Emily is also passionate about the Great Lakes, running, and dogs.
Southeast Branch Representative
Nagappan Palaniappan is a Master’s student in Construction Engineering and Management with a Bachelor’s in Civil engineering. As a Southeast Michigan Branch Representative he represents University of Michigan at meetings and conferences. He is also the Recruitment Chair and UofM Liaison in ASCE SE MI-Community on Young Members. He completed all of his schooling and undergraduate degree from Chennai, India. He is passionate about all types of constructions, having tested the waters with residential and commercial projects, he found his field of action to be heavy industrial and energy sector projects. On the light side he loves all kinds of games and sports, an avid Numismatist, Philatelist and an armature Conchologist. Philosophical, scientific and indigenous conceptual discussions are also some of his likings.
Madison Carlson is a senior studying Civil Engineering with a concentration in Transportation Engineering. As Communications Chair, Madison is responsible for coordinating Speaker Series and the ASCE email. Outside of ASCE, Madison is on the Michigan Concrete Canoe team, where she is also the secretary. Madison also enjoys going to the Big House for game days and is a full blown Maxxinista.
